ep 172 – Nick and Josh Podcast Ramblecast

By in All

We talk some more about Evolutionary Christianity, which kicked off last week and has already started to gather some steam with some really good content.

This week Josh and Nick have a Ramblecast with all sorts of good tidbits.

If you liked the intro music check out more at Red Mountain Music.

We also heard rumors of Big Tent going to AZ.

There is an eerie noise when Josh starts talking about weird strains of disease in Haiti. And we did establish that Rick Bennett is the coiner of the term ‘post-emergent’. Not the infamous twitterer.

ep 171 – Thom Stark and The Human Faces of God

By in All

This week Nick talks to Thom Stark who recently wrote a book called, The Human Faces of God.

You may find it interesting that on Amazon right now, customers who bought his book also bought, “Avatar”. So there’s that.

No but seriously, this is a great conversation about Inspiration, Inerrancy, and what the Bible tells us about Humanity and God. I think you will enjoy the conversation. Be sure to check Thom out online and pick up a copy of his book. But don’t take my word for it, check out the endorsements.

Also, as we mentioned in the intro, check out Michael Dowd’s new Online Teleseminars Evolutionary Christianity. It starts this weekend, and we think it will be stellar, and it’s free.

ep 170 – Rev Dr. Amy Laura Hall and the Proper 29 Project

By in All

This week Nick talks to Rev. Dr. Amy Laura Hall, who is an Associate Professor of Theological Ethics at Duke Divinity School.

They talk about the Proper 29 Project.

The project can be summed up in this bit from their web page:

Proper 29 Project has been set up to provide a forum for homiletic engagement with our moral culpability as Christians in the United States for civilian deaths and torture in Iraq and Afghanistan, and for witnessing to the gospel of Jesus Christ as we process the news that British, U.S., and Iraqi forces have killed over 66,000 civilians. We acknowledge and lament our corporate responsibility for these acts. Knowing that we all stand under God’s judgment, we hope to speak the truth without creating dichotomies which lessen our culpability.

Be sure to check out the site for the Proper 29 Project.

ep 169 – Adam Taylor, Mobilizing Hope

By in All

This week Nick talks to Adam Taylor who recently wrote Mobilizing Hope, a book about justice, change, religion, and activism.

I think you will enjoy this conversation.

Jim Wallis does the forward and says that the book,“is a story of how Adam and many of his cohorts are shaping the next strategies for faith-based social change; a theology for social justice; a spirituality for young activists; a handbook for those who want to experiment with activism and search out their own vocation in the world; and a strategy manual that draws lessons from past movements for change.”

His IVP author info is here, and book info is here.
