ep 7.8 - Corporate Responsbility w/ Ariah Fine

March 29, 2008

Ariah is back for another hard hitting edition of our Corporate Responsibility series. As mentioned in the podcast, Ariah has his first book out that he self-published. If you want to be a part of the cool crowd and support our/your friends, then this is the place and way to do it. If you want to buy it directly from him, here’s the place to do it and if you want to do it through Amazon, then you can do that as well here. It’s called Giving Up and here is an excerpt,

Carter Owen was on top of the world. The successful owner of Nelius Incorporated, with a home in the prestigious Garden Hills, Carter and his family had little to worry about. An abandoned factory, a once famous professor, and an ancient philosophy book turns their world upside down. With their values and the world as they know it in question, the Owen family stands on the brink of doing something they never thought possible…giving up.

And here are a couple of links that Ariah mentioned in the podcast: Non-Toxic Paint and Corporate Responsibility Monday’s backlinks.

ep 7.3 - Corporate Responsibility with Ariah

February 29, 2008

We’re a little early this week with the releasing of the podcast. But I’m (Josh) heading out of town for vacation this week and Nick is in an RV in the middle of Australia. So our busyness is your gain. If you consider getting our podcast 2 days early a “gain”. Be sure to stick around for the whole podcast as Anna joins me for a Tall Skinny section and the announcement of some big news.

This week Ariah is back for another edition of the Corporate Responsibility section of the podcast. He talks with his good friend Daniel Burt who was featured on the Oprah Show for their freegan lifestyle. Daniel and his wife Amanda are dumpster divers and proponents of the freegan lifestyle. You can check out their info on Oprah’s site or you can just visit their blog. And you can also check out the segment that came on right before their interview of some dumpster divers in New York City.

Also be sure to check out Ariah’s blog.

ep 5.7 - Corporate Responsibility

November 10, 2007

This is Podcast Version 5.7: Corporate Responsibility Edition. Ariah Fine flys solo on this podcast as he discusses the tension, as a father, between sharing your values and forcing your values on your child. Ariah recently became a new father and has been struggling with what it looks like to live against the grain of consumerism and excess while at the same time not raising a child that resents his parents for choosing this lifestyle. As always, Ariah is thought-provoking, succinct, and challenging to the core.
