ep 5.8 - Michael Dowd ‘Thank God for Evolution!’

November 17, 2007

wie-both.jpg This week Nick and Josh have teamed back up for a great intro and an even better podcast. They mention the ongoing poll and the contest, both located on the website sidebar. They also read from the facebook group wall.

Nick interviews Michael Dowd, who just released his latest work called Thank God for Evolution!. A book that could be the missing link for traditional christianity that may still be stuck in a 10000 year model of creation.

Michael posits that there is a sacred view of evolution and of christianity where science and christianity are no longer non-overlapping-magisteria but they are meant to guide each other.

Visit his website or read his blog.

We would strongly suggest listening and even inviting Michael to your church or group.

ep 5.7 - Corporate Responsibility

November 10, 2007

This is Podcast Version 5.7: Corporate Responsibility Edition. Ariah Fine flys solo on this podcast as he discusses the tension, as a father, between sharing your values and forcing your values on your child. Ariah recently became a new father and has been struggling with what it looks like to live against the grain of consumerism and excess while at the same time not raising a child that resents his parents for choosing this lifestyle. As always, Ariah is thought-provoking, succinct, and challenging to the core.

Soularize Wrap Up??

November 2, 2007

Nick wraps up some of the Soularize weekend, yet he leaves it open for more snippets from the conference to appear here and there. Soularize will be making ‘Soularize in a Box’ shortly and it will be well worth the $20. Imagine the content of the conference in a box.

During the wrap up we met Christian McCabe, a recently married Bahamian who lives and works at the hosting church NPCC in Nassau.

Christian put together a small Soularize Montage here

Obviously the $20 doesn’t include the incredible moments like scooter rides, shark dives, aged rum, cuban cigars, conch salad, and meaningful 10 way discussions in hotel rooms late at night. For that you should show up in 2009.
