ep 5.2 - John H Armstrong
September 30, 2007
****I have messed this podcast up about three times, but if you delete your crappy versions of it and download the newest one from iTunes, you are good to go. Sorry for the mistakes.****
This week Nick and Josh talk to John Armstrong of the group Act 3 - not to be confused with Acts Chapter 3.
John recently hosted an event that will worked to bring together Protestant and Catholic believers on common ground. His ministry exists to bridge these gaps.
He is also and avid football fan and cheers for the Crimson Tide (where Nick spent 3 years of his life, and only attended one game - which he left after 30 minutes).
ep 5.1 - Dr. Scot McKnight
September 22, 2007
This week Josh and Nick talk to Dr. Scot McKnight.
He is a blogger, an author, and a teacher.
Dr. McKnight is one of the top emergent bloggers, after recently having gaining some ground over the Tall Skinny, and a well versed professor of Historical Jesus. Rumor has it he is friends with Nick’s man crush - Bart D. Ehrman (maybe he will put in a good word for the podcast, which Bart has declined twice).
During the podcast Nick and Josh talk Curb Your Enthusiasm, Google Fight, Jesus Seminar, and much more. “Frolic” by Luciano Michelini is the song they try to figure out at the beginning of the podcast.
This weeks music was provided by The Spots
ep 5.0 - Christian George
September 15, 2007
This week Nick talks to Christian George, a friend from high school that he hasn’t seen in over 7 years. Since then Christian has gone to seminary, written a couple books, gotten married, and traveled the world.
They talk about growing up, Christian’s travels, his book Sacred Travels and his upcoming book Sex, Sushi, and Salvation.
Christian’s books are published through Intervarsity Press, he blogs here.
ep 4.9 - Jim Henderson
September 8, 2007

This week Josh and Nick talk with Jim Henderson from Off The Map. And he stops by to tell us about what he does and his new conference Off The Map Live 2007.
Nick and Josh both used to log into Off The Map constantly and used it as a reference for evangelism. They both remember watching the Lost Interviews at YS Conferences.
Jim is a pretty cool guy. It is great to have met him. He is the only person that has been on this podcast that actually has two souls. Remember when Hemant Mehta sold his soul on ebay? Jim won the auction. He continually thinks and creates new ways to enter into relationships and conversations. His book Jim and Casper go to Church talks about Jim hiring an atheist to go with churches with him and give him feeback on each one.
ep 4.8 - Kiva: Jessica Jackley
September 3, 2007
IT WAS BOUND to happen. The Nick & Josh Podcast scooped the Almighty. Oprah that is. Last Tuesday I recorded a podcast with one of the co-founders of Kiva. And Friday they went into Oprah’s studio to record Tuesday’s Oprah television show. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they mentioned just how cool The Nick & Josh Podcast was/is.
But besides scooping Oprah, we had a great conversation with Jessica Jackley Flannery of Kiva (co-founder with her husband Matt). If you’re not familiar with Kiva . . . this is a great chance to get to know them and what they’re about. And if you’re already a fan and partner . . . then you can hear Jessica talk about a variety of things including social networking in giving, flattened relational models, the power of women in power, and Kiva’s leveraging of their relationships with big business Silicon Valley giants for their role in micro-loans.
Unfortunately, Nick couldn’t make this podcast and as usually is the case when I fly solo, I struggle to sound coherent and intelligent. He is truly worthy to be Wayne while I am nothing but Garth. But despite my suck-i-ness in “interviewing” . . . I did get to talk to somebody whose going to talk to Oprah . . . and that’s got to count for something right?
Check it out.
