ep 4.3 - Phyllis Tickle: Part 2

July 29, 2007

pt012.jpgIn the second part of a three part discussion with Phyllis Tickle, she gives an incredible illustration of society and how societal changes relate to our concepts of truth, religion, and understanding.

We also have a strong intro where we levy some attacks against some guys that have been attacking us. They are J and J over at Thinkerlabs. They are very vulgar in their emergenty podcasts, probably because they are Canadian. [Note the “.ca” at the end of their url]

This week we had our resident artisan, Justin, provide some supplimentary illustration to give you a better grasp of the conversation [click to see an enlarged picture]. Enjoy it!

July 22, 2007

This week is version 4.2 of The Nick and Josh Podcast. We had recorded a different 4.2 podcast with just the two of us talking about the official launch of this site and all the new voice mail number [1-206-984-3721], but there were technical problems and that got scratched. So this week Nick interviews Phyllis Tickle the Matron Saint of the Great Emergence. She is also the author of many books, most notably The Divine Hours and The Night Offices. She is also an incredible speaker and you may have caught her at some emergent gatherings.

This is part 1 of 3. In this podcast she introduces herself and talks a little bit about her life. Get to know her, in the next two parts she will blow your mind.

ep 4.1 - Maury Buchanan

July 9, 2007

This week while down in the Dominican Republic, Nick interviews Maury Buchanan the directory of Mission Discovery. Maury tells his story and talks about how he became the director of a mission group that sends hundreds of young adults to other countries (and other states) to serve people in need.

The moto for Mission Discovery is “To Love is To serve”. What a way to impact the world! Go to MissionDiscovery.com for more information on how you can get involved in one of their mission trips. You can read more about the trip and see a few pictures at Nick’s blog.

Maury also has a pretty awesome radio voice. He does some voiceover work and I would suggest taking a listen. Here is his business website.

ep 4.0 - Corporate Responsibility

July 2, 2007

We’ve got a new podcast up. It’s a short little conversation between Ariah Fine (pronounced a-RYE-ah) and myself about corporate responsibility. It’s sort of a continuation and development of some of the themes that we discussed in our collaborative blogging effort called Corporate Responsibility Mondays.

This will also be a new monthly feature where we will devote a whole podcast to a conversation between Ariah and Josh. We’ll try to highlight companies that have practice sustainability while hosting conversations between various entrepreneurs and companies that are playing a positive role in the world.

Ariah is also an active and thought-provoking blogger who lives in intentional community in the city of Nashville. He’s a Wheaton grad, former Americorps, and a good podcaster in his own right.

In this episode we briefly share how we are trying to integrate the spiritual into all of our lives, including our spending and purchasing habits. Within the last week, Ariah also became a father, and shares some of the obvious and not so obvious tensions and fears with raising a kid in by the ethics and values of simple living. So stop by and introduce yourself to one of my new friends and the newest member of The Nick & Josh Podcast family.
